What is the NZ SES/AEO Scheme?

The New Zealand Customs NZ SES scheme is an accreditation program that is designed to assist importers and exporters to meet the customs requirements of New Zealand. It includes three elements: AEO (Authorised Economic Operator), C-TPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) and NZ MPI (New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries).

AEO provides operational recognition to industry members who have demonstrated high performance and commitment to secure, compliant and efficient supply chains while C-TPAT allows members to secure mutual recognition and relief from security measures. Finally, NZ MPI helps to ensure the correct import and export procedures are followed.

The Secure Exports Scheme is designed to make exporting easier by helping clear Customs in New Zealand and overseas. Once SES approved, you will need to ensure your goods are packed, stored and transported in a way that meets global customs standards. For NZ Customs, the Secure Exports Scheme means border protection have confidence in the security of your supply chain. For you, this means less chance of border delays and greater certainty at international borders.
